Kobe INK Monogatari Special color Yuhobika Blue
Kobe INK Monogatari YUHOBIKA BLUE is inspired by the historic scenery of Akashi, a place celebrated in classical literature such as the Manyoshu and The Tale of Genji.
The name “Yuhobika” is an archaic Japanese word describing a calm, unhurried presence, used to portray the landscape of Akashi in The Tale of Genji – Wakamurasaki. This fountain pen ink reflects the gentle beauty once admired by people of the past, expressed in a serene blue with a subtle greenish undertone.
About the Artist – Shin Tanaka
Born in Osaka in 1979, Shin Tanaka is a painter and picture book author known for his distinctive materials and textures. He incorporates sand collected from the shores of Akashi—where his studio is located—into his artwork, carefully washing and sun-drying it to preserve the natural character of the land and sea.
By blending elements carried from mountains and oceans alike, his works embody the quiet harmony of nature, even capturing the energy of the sun itself. Tanaka began illustrating picture books in 2002 and made his debut as an author in 2005 with Grimm Press in Taiwan. Today, his creative practice spans exhibitions worldwide, stage art, advertising, fashion, character design, lectures, and workshops.
