Actor, director, philosopher and martial arts legend, Bruce Lee set a standard that continues to inspire people around the world. Born in San Francisco in 1940 and raised in Hong Kong, he represented a unique blend of East and West.
Films such as The Big Boss (1971), Fist of Fury (1972) and The Way of the Dragon (1972) made him famous worldwide. His combination of physical strength, philosophical thinking and powerful screen presence made him truly unique.
Montblanc pays tribute to this legendary figure with the Great Characters Homage to Bruce Lee Special Edition, celebrating Bruce Lee in particular as an actor.
Bruce Lee was born on 27 November 1940, in the Year and Hour of the Dragon. The dragon therefore plays an important role in the design of the Special Edition. A dragon drawing created by Bruce Lee himself inspired the pattern on the black precious resin barrel.
The ruthenium-coated cone features a circling hornet, a reference to the television series that helped launch Bruce Lee’s acting career. Known as the “Little Dragon”, Bruce Lee is also honoured with the Chinese character for “dragon”, delicately incorporated into the Montblanc emblem in white precious resin.
The yellow precious resin of the cap was inspired by Bruce Lee’s famous outfit from Game of Death. Fine geometric lines around the cap echo the decorative frame of the original Enter the Dragon film poster.
Other details reflect Bruce Lee’s martial arts legacy. The textured clip is inspired by a nunchaku, while the cap ring is reminiscent of a bamboo cane.
