Founded in 2014 in Tamsui, Taiwan, Lennon Tool Bar is inspired by the traditional art of indigo dyeing—an industry that flourished in Taiwan over a century ago. At the time, Taiwan exported doroai, a key raw material for indigo dyes, to the Japanese Empire.
The brand draws from these historic dyeing techniques and classic indigo tones, translating them into a modern and distinctive colour palette.
The Poetry of Light: Ying Piao
The series, “Zhuó Yĩng,” takes its name from the illusion created when fabric is washed in water. It captures the nightly scenes witnessed by a dedicated fabric dyer, working quietly into the late hours.
Ying Piao: In the secluded workshop, the night hums with the sounds of insects and splashing dye. Suddenly, countless fireflies appear, dancing through the darkness and bringing life to the solitude.
While the Poetry of Light dye based shimmer inks are safe for both fountain and dip pens, Lennon Tool Bar recommends regular pen cleaning to ensure smooth use.
